i blew up a PSU once… never had one "die" in my OWN personal computer.
I saw a guy blow up a PSU at the AMD XPP2 roadshow in DC Thought it was part of the light show but it wasn't

Re:guy: You're right, I don't get to post nearly as much as I would like! But, I'm more of a "lurker" anyway. It was a 3 year old Premier ATX 300w and it was "Red Hot" right after it tripped off on thermal overload. I started to smell something burning and at first I thought it was my new HD!

Anyways, yes the drive should be fine as long as it didn't spike or anything like that. What was the wattage on the power supply? I am thinking it might of been too low to handle the new drive.
