My nutrition overheated and died while my new layout WD WD800JB! [wd] [power supply]

Q: Am I screwed or can I just start format again? I ordered a replacement p / s, but it will not until the end of the week.

i blew up a PSU once… never had one "die" in my OWN personal computer.

I saw a guy blow up a PSU at the AMD XPP2 roadshow in DC :D Thought it was part of the light show but it wasn't :)

Re:guy: You're right, I don't get to post nearly as much as I would like! But, I'm more of a "lurker" anyway. It was a 3 year old Premier ATX 300w and it was "Red Hot" right after it tripped off on thermal overload. I started to smell something burning and at first I thought it was my new HD!

Thanks for the good news guys! I have ordered a replacement from newegg.

Anyways, yes the drive should be fine as long as it didn't spike or anything like that. What was the wattage on the ? I am thinking it might of been too low to handle the new drive.
