my p4 1.8A running too hot? [cpu temperature] [system temperature]

Q: I just put my P4 1.8A + Abit Bg7 system, and Im afraid the CPU is a bit hot and cold. Under load, the motherboard reports the around 53 degrees, and the system as the temperature is 35 degrees. This looks way hotter than what other people are reporting. Mem running straight to the boxed cooler, no mods, or something, and my case is a standard midtower, its a little tight, but not my CPU much.

The guide called a thermal spray material that was supposed to come with the chip, but it was missing from the box. Is this my problem? Or is the spray stuff is superfluous because the heatsink is a square black patch on the bottom thing?

Thanks for the help.

Re:I would say that you're running a bit hot, maybe; I have 1.6A and even during these hot days here in San Jose with room temperature over 90F/32C I'm having, under the 100% load (video editing):

SystemTemperature 48C max (idling 41C now, room temp 30C)
Processor Zone 46C max (idling 35C now, room temp 30C)

I didn't get any higher yet; stock Intel F/HS , 2 quiet extra fans in the rear of the case , and one quiet fan in the front, pushing air in over 2 HDD's; Antec SX1030 case.

Re:You are fine. The summer heat is killing me! Under load my temp are now 65c!
It doesn't help my room temp are 35c.

Re:My P4 (2.26 w/ P4 Dragon) will do 46-47c offload, and 53-57c onload. So like the others said, you are good.

Re:the CPU/Overclocking forum probably has a good spread of temps to gauge off of. Go there and do a search for p4 1.8 temps or something :D . Cheers.

Re:That's what mine runs. (mine is about 55-56 load OC'ed to 2Ghz) With the Stock HSF… I have AS3 instead of the thermal pad. Not too much difference (a degree or 2) with the AS3.

Re:Nothing to worry about. That's just fine and dandy. People who are reporting alot lower temps have more fans for sure. 53 load is just fine.

Re:Don't worry about it. 53C under load is just fine.
