Q: So I reinstalled XP today, and up and running. I have installed the latest drivers for my motherboard computers here: http://www.epox.com/USA/article.asp?ID=1062 I pretty much burned the software on a CD on this computer and then on that computer . It installed everything but the internet is still not working. Im on a network . So if I go to Device Manager and go to Network Adapters, it still has the same 1394 network adapter is listed, when in fact, a network adapter installed.
System:
Microsoft XP Professional
AMD Athlon
1.10 ghz
512 MB ram
Any suggestions?
Re:I can't imagine building a machine and not going through the bios before loading anything on it. I have never had one where all the default settings were what I wanted.
Re:Nevermind, I got it all set-up. I had to go into the bios and change some settings.
Re:or the ethernet/NIC isn't enabled in BIOS
Re:There is a driver for the built in nic that should be included with the collection of mb drivers. If the nic does not show up in Device manager, the drivers are not loaded.
Re:What kind of driver would I be missing? It is a built in connection to the motherboard.
Re:Using a built in nic or a card? IEEE1394 is the firewire connection. Sounds like you are missing a driver if the ethernet adapter is not showing up.
Re:Also, all 3 of the computers I have are connected through a router, running off a cable modem.
