Re:yea, I currently have my running a celeron2 650MHz, you can upgrade it… the package type from intel is called MMC-2 and you can search ebay for the part. If you take it above 400 you'll get a bios error every boot that you have to continue through (a small inconvenience for the speed).

yes, you can also upgrade drives and such, I have a modified toshiba CDRW/DVD drive I pulled from a compaq presario in mine, works like a charm. Package type of the drive is important.

Re:ok after monitoring Anadtech forsale/trade and ebay I finaly got a P2-300 for $40 shipped. Now I'm trying to find a guide to disassemble the . Anyone got one?

Re:looks like this (http://www.acsparts.com/thinkpads/thinkpad_data/processors.html) place has one for $50. But it also has others listed for a .

Re:Similiar, but IBM's is proprietary.
Those are OEM Gateway.

Re:Is this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=31532&item=2084758426) no it?

Re:guy

It is not a CPU by itself. It is a proprietary card that plugs into the motherboard.

A very expensive replacement I might add. A $200-$300+ range.

Use the IBM Part no. and do a simple search on Google.

CPU card (Pentium II 300 MHz) IBM Part No. 10L1020
if you can find one.

What about Intel Part #? I got a listing on ebay of some but they're all listed under Intel part #

Does anyone know about other upgrades like DVD?

Re:Thanks Lilith. I will start searching now. I'd like to upgrade one of these 600's and give it to the maintenance department. Still can't find the manuals…

Re:I don't have this model, but I adminster two here at work. From what I can tell (from looking at the 600's here, and from the IBM site), you aren't going to upgrade the CPU. If anyone out there has info to the contrary, please let me know also. I am trying to find the original IBM literature, but they bought these before I took over the IT department and they are not in my files.

Re:so you got the model that I do? cause I thought it would take like a 400
