Q: I have an old school win95 machine, 486 DX / 2, 12 MB RAM. I got online but Im sort of bothered by the selection of software I can find, or rather the lack thereof. I hope someone here will be links to pages that have been filed this stuff:
Internet Explorer 4.x or 5.x.
AOL Instant Messenger for win95
ICQ (non-2000, ICQ 98 could have done)
mIRC 5.x (Before 1930 this crap -day trial)
ircN as mIRC 5.x can not be found
Gracias,

Re:I've tried using Netscape 4.02, but it crashes after about 10-12 page views. Probably the ram, but I have no clue where to find some.

Re:Try to use an older version of Netscape. I liked it a lot better on the older Windows than IE before both of them became bloated.
Most DX 482/2 systems will take at least 16 MB RAM. Even back then, the manufacturers were skimping based on what the MS minimum specs were.
Remember back then RAM cost $25-50 per MB

Re:I have IE 3.x. It sort of works for browsing the web but almost every page I load gives me JavaScript errors.
I don't think I can boost the ram to 16mb. It's a really old mobo.
IE 5.x is only download-able for win ME. Behold the wonder of the Microshaft support cycle.

Re:First: boost your RAM to at least 16MB if not 32MB.
Second: IE should come with Win95, but I am unsure of the version.IE 5.x Home Page Link (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/archive/default.asp)
