Q: Hi,
Building two computers and two video cards needed.
Fist computer I want a better video card for internet and a few games. Secondly, just a good video card. Would like to be very stable. I will be running Win 2000.
First card Im looking for an ATI Radeon LE. The question is what is a good generation or ATI is the ony one who makes this card?
Second card Im considering is an ATI Xpert 2000 32MB Rage 128 AGP 2X is a good map? It is a good price and all I really want is a decent video card 32meg.
Let me know your thoughts or ideas.
Thanks
Best Answer: well i wouldn't put a video card in the pci slot because if you have a AGP slot thats your best choice for a halfway good card. pci isn't as good as agp. but it all depends on what agp slot you have in there if you have a 8X agp you can still get a good card for it. but pci just sucks for video cards.
Re:They work. Some people say the drivers aren't great though. Some people say they are fine. I just wouldn't risk it.
Re:What's the deal with the Radeon cards and Win2K? Driver problems?
Will the cards work in win2K at all?
Re:Radeon 32DDR!!! $88 Just bought one. Great card. Playes UT with everything on and on high. 1024×768 and 32bit. 70fps in UT and smooth.
EDIT!!!! Opps. Not a good card for Win2K yet I hear. Sorry.
Re:guy, no I don't. He said he wants something for the internet(2D), and some games, Matrox has the best 2D. The second he said he wanted a good, stable card in Win2K. That's where the GTS family or the V5 come in. I don't recommend the Radeon for the second card because some people have trouble with their Win2K drivers.
Re:guy: I think you have it the other way arround: GeForce cards = Great Gaming, G400 = Great Workstation card (Actually, Amazing in my opinion).
Re:For the first, I'd recommend the Matrox G400.
For the second, either a Voodoo5, or a GTS/GTS pro/GF2u.
