Q: I have come across and old laptop: DELL Latitude XP, Windows 1995 475D
It installed and it seems only 400MB of the drive space.
Pic system properties: Pic 1 (http://robbie.ghabel.com/images2/ Dell%% 20laptop/Old 20laptop1.JPG)
Pic Drive features: Pic 2 (% http://robbie.ghabel.com/images2/Dell 20laptop/Old 20laptop2.JPG%)
Windows 95 is installed and it seems to have 400MB space. PC will accept an installation of Windows 98? (Doubtful, but it does not hurt to ask).
What I want to do is connect to my wireless home network and internet surfing I do not think that Windows 95 can wirelessly.
If I can not install 98 and / or connect to the Internet, what could I do with this thing?
Best Answer: No
Re:Nevermind, I see that Best Buy has some that support Win95, although none are wireless.
Choosing from these: Best Buy PCMCIA network cards (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=cat01032&navHistory=cat00000%2Bcat01000%2Bcat01024&type=category&navLevel=4)
I'm not sure what to look for except for Win95 compatibilty.
Re:Do ANY of the PCMCIA network cards support Windows 95?
I am only seeing those that support Windows 98 and up at my local OfficeMax.
Re:Ive seen some laptop lcd's modded in to desktop cases. Looks really cool and useful to for winamp, pictures or system stats. Searching the mod communities and google will land you details.
Re:Might as well keep 95 on there since it's there already and all you want to do is surf the web
Re:Whoops!
I didn't see the notebook forum when I was trying to decide where to post.
Could a moderator move this to the Notebooks forum please? Sorry for the inconvenience.

Linux might be a better choice for such an underpowered system.
Really? Which one? All I want to do is use this thing to go from web page to web page.
Re:I am pretty sure minimum system requirements for win98 is a 486-66mhz with 16 megs of ram.
So it looks like your laptop only has 8 megs of ram,so I dont think you'll be able to install win98, but on 8 megs of ram would you even want to?
