Q: My PC is made of
Duron 800
MSI K7T pro 2a
Hyndai PC-133 RAM 256Mb
a cooling fan running at about 5000rpm
V7100 GeForce2 mx
20Gb Maxtor hard drive
well i have been on the FSB to get to 106 (stable) by a multiplier 0f 8x, the temp of my cpu is around 44 which I think is too high. what fan should I do with an economic buget that would allow me to cool the CPU. Independently of the L1 bridges connceting what eels can I do to my PC to run like the wind.
any suggestion is welcome . thank you [
Re:i connected all the L1 and L7 bridges
i am running 9*113 now full load temp is 37celcius with alpha pal6035 delta fan
i have exact the same hardware but the hd is different
i oc my Asus7100 to 205/195
Re:I can get my multiplier up to 10x with my duron 800 on that mobo, but with the restart/no post problem. 9.5x gives absolutely no probs. Want to get new ram so i can o/c more with fsb. Currently running 9.5×103.
Make sure you have a good heatsink/fan.
Re:Didn't solve my multiplier problem…. In fact it made it worse. I can get 8x at 1.80 but not with 1.85 using L7's or OC Bios. Go figure.
Re:Try closing all L7 bridge so you get default 1.85 volt core, usually this solving the multiplier issue
Re:Update to the 2.4 or latest OC bios. Set ram timings as SPD instead of Manual (this will set in 4-way inter). MSI KT7 Pro2a has multiplier problems. If i pencil in my Duron 700 and try to run it at 900+, it will run fine but on repeated reboots there is no post. So i just stick with FSB OC, currently at 805 (7×115). To tell you the truth i don't even feel a difference between 700 and 900+ Mhz. Benches tell a different story though. Aside from the multiplier problem the MSI KT7 Pro2a is a decent cheap board. Run Sisoft mem and cpu benches to see what performance your PC is running at. Mine is as follows
Duron 700@805 (7×115)
Cas2 Crucial pc133 @ Cas2 153 Mhz
Mem scores are 500/600 with oc bios 520/640.
Not too shabby for a SDRAM board. Peace out.
