Best Answer: Try removing the 8500GT (go back to integrated graphics temporarily), then install sevrice pack 2. The put the card back in and see how things work.
If you keep getting parity check errors, that means video memory on the card is bad, it's just a defective one. Return it for replacement.
Re:I pointed the fan into the open side of my computer
temperatures dropped at least 10 degrees celcius
However the games aren't crashing to desktop as much as its lagging now
and they are really lagging a lot
freezing too
i don't really think it is the power supply because i looked at my amp and voltage readings from Lavalys's Everest Home Edition
and they are more than fine
as for the drivers
i have an ATI Radeon X-700 now
And as soon as i put it in i installed the latest drivers
to give you some insight on what it may be the game that is most effected is Battlefield 2
I have no idea what this can be
Help and Guidence is all i ask for please
thank you
Re:If the fans are all spinning, and you want to be SURE it isn't an overheating problem, open the case and point a large (room) fan at the motherboard. If it still fails, it's not an overheating problem.
As mentioned, it's likely drivers or, maybe, power supply. Unfortunately, there are a lot of power supplies that don't deliver what they claim to deliver.
Re:It has a 300 Watt PSU with 15 Amps on the 12 volt Rail.
One fan, compact case
I did a complete reinstall of Windows, still no luck (I used a real windows CD, not the restore disks that came with it either)
I even took the side off the case and it is still happening
please assist
Re:Is it some sort of compact case that isnt designed to have airflow around the AGP slot? If it is in a fairly compact case, the fan may be spinning but the air may just be so hot that it overheats when it jumps into 3d mode
Re:Yeah, start with the drivers. If that won't clear it up look to the PSU.
Wouldn't hurt to look at your card and make sure that the fan (if there is one) is spinning. Heat c/b a problem too.

Re:what is your e-machine's power supply rating?
Also make sure you unistall any drivers you had for your on board video, run driver cleaner and the install new drivers for the 6600.
