I would love to be able to put the CD away as I did with v1.45 and just start the game and will play online without having to scramble around trying to drive .

Re:Am I mistaken, or does vers 1.5 have some graphics improvements? I have been away from playing for a week and a half, and after having to download 1.5, I could swear I see improvements/differences in some of the visuals. I have a Radeon 9700.
Maybe someone cleaned my monitor while I was away.
