Q: Now I found out Verizon blocked port 80, what would the best / cheapest alternitive for web hosting? I dont care to weaning outrageous amounts of cash. Although I am angry exteremly with Verizon for blocking this port, I can totally see why they have done in the matter so.
Any Advice would be very appriciated.
Thanx advance,
Joe

Re:You can still host on a different port number fairly easily. However, only do this if verizon allows servers on their network. Take a look at this article: How to run your webserver on a different port number other than port 80 (http://www.dslwebserver.com/main/sbs-webserver-on-a-different-port-number.html)
Re:Check out this thread in hot deals >> link (http://{$MySite}/messageview.cfm?catid=40&threadid=666962&highlight_key=y&keyword1=3%2E95)
3.95 / month
I have this service along with a lot of fellow Anandtech-ers and I think everyone is very pleased with it.
Re:{Q]ok well anyway why dont you try setting hte http server to port 81? the people will have to put www.www.com:81[/i] >>
Just use a dynamic DNS service like dns2go to automatically forward HTTP requests to a different port of your choosing. It's really simple. You can even set it up so that users don't even know they are using a different port.
Re:I called them TWICE just to varify that the first person knew what the heck he was talking about. But yes, I'm positive that they blocked it. I'm pretty pissed off about this and wanted to be able to setup an web/ftp to host some pictures.
Thank you for taking to out to help out,
