I have a little pentium box set aside for that, just no time to do it yet.
Re:this happened using ext3 maybe I'll try XFS this time.
I doubt it was ext3 itself, I've been running ext3 on 2 boxes (and Alpha and and Ultra1) without problems for a while now and the x86 ports get a lot more attention.

Re:scsi hard drives, not over clocked.
I like emerge, but I am wondering why my hard drive got corrupted
Re:is your system overclocked at all? are your ide cables more than 18" long? both of these can cause filesystem corruption…
I'm about to give up on gentoo too… stupid emerge isn't all its cracked up to be, ive taken instead to downloading and compiling things manually, I might as well use LFS…
Re:yes.
OK apparnently most of the problem came down to hard drive problems, I ran fsck on my hard drive, found lots of problems, tried to fix it, then rebooted.
upon reboot it stops at mount it can't find the mount command and drops me into a shell.
I think my only choice right now is to do a full reinstall, I'm also going to check the hard drive thouroughly.
this happened using ext3 maybe I'll try XFS this time.
Re:Did you try the ldconfig thing mentioned in the last thread you started about this?
