Okay, who wants to make some G15 LCD apps? [logitech g15 keyboard] [ram utilization]

Q: After my for a few days now, Im dying to get ahold of some apps for the LCD to take advantage of a game out there. I do not care if it turns frames per second, counting ammunition, health, whatever, I just want something to finish with. Unfortunately, Logitech just shipping more than just a date / time, a meager media plugin, and CPU / RAM usage was enough.

So out there who likes to play games and can easily be programmed in C + +? I can email the LCD SDK who wants it, who wants to play around, those gamers who think of picking up the keyboard. Ill be a man crew.

Hopefully test, Ill have to fight anyone with a stick shortly after I post this: D

Re:I've had this keyboard for my World of Warcraft fix for about a week now. Can i get a copy of the SDK please? I want to try to make private messages/tells and other important text info go on the LCD screen.

I'm soooo glad someone started the ball rolling on this. :)

edit : i found 2 links that might help us get started from the logitech user discussion boards

happened to run across the following, which *might* just be the first applet available outside the included ones:

http://lcdhype.mod-extreme.info/lcdhype…ac88f3764aeb7dae4ee21c3&showtopic=2661 (http://lcdhype.mod-extreme.info/lcdhypeforum/index.php?s=2728e88c3ac88f3764aeb7dae4ee21c3&showtopic=2661)

It's called LCDHype and it's a package some guy in Germany did, it deals with all kinds of LCDs (mostly homebrew stuff hooked up to the parallel port), and in its latest release that came out a few days ago, it says:

+ added Logitech G-series LCD driver

This package allows you to write scripts to display stuff on LCDs. I went looking through the bulletin boards and found one script so far that's G15-specific, a network bandwidth monitor: http://lcdhype.mod-extreme.info/lcdhype…ac88f3764aeb7dae4ee21c3&showtopic=2660 (http://lcdhype.mod-extreme.info/lcdhypeforum/index.php?s=2728e88c3ac88f3764aeb7dae4ee21c3&showtopic=2660)

You might have to customize some parts of the script (such as which network card index to use, it's set to 2, but for me it was 1 – "ipconfig /all" will tell you).

Looks like there's a lot of interesting scripts for that package (game server stats, motherboard temperatures, weather plugin etc…) that are just itching to be adapted to the resolution of the G15 keyboard… even though a lot of the discussion is in German, but they do have an English forum.

Anyone up for some scripting?

Oh and p.s.: there is an included LCD emulator app so you can test your own plugins. :)

Oh, good, thanks for letting me know. That'll make it a lot easier.

Edit: VLCDCtrl.exe? It says failed to enable LCD emulation. I don't get it.

Anyway, I don't have the ENTIRE SDK, could you send it to me?
Give me another email besides the one in your profile. gmail will not accept the zip file (only 500KB).

Re:I looked at this SDK briefly the other day, it doesnt look like they include anything compiled so really any decent language should be able to do just fine.

Personally I'm looking at it in C# (which even if they included a compiled DLL I could justmake unmanged calls to it) because I think for something so "simple" C++ is a bit overkill and doesn't have as many "high-level" bells and whistles built into it (i.e. network info, WMI, etc. etc., there is something to be said for high level languages if they are fleshed out well enough).

Anyway, I don't have the ENTIRE SDK, could you send it to me?

Re:Hey, sounds like that is a start. guy, do you think you could rig up something simple to show temps from MBM, or possibly network usage? That would definitely be a good start, and would be interesting to see working on the LCD.

Let me know what happens with this:
http://home.comcast.net/~asmatte/ezlcd.exe

What are the soft buttons?

it prints test in medium to large characters. none of the buttons do anything special…

the big button on the left will let you cycle through the running programs. when you press it once, it brings up the list, when you pressit again, the 4 small buttons display:

left scroll arrow to scroll through programs
right scroll arrow to scroll the other way
check mark (as in yes, select this program to run)
x (as in no, dont use this program)

that is from left to right

i will but you must give me $400USD. I take paypal , direct bank deposite. What software you want me to make. I am not kidding :)
Change that $400USD to $4USD, and you have yourself a deal! $400 if I was trying to make money from this? Maybe. For a little project for the Anandtech people and possibly the rest of the G15 installed userbase? Nope. :D

Interesting idea, but i think it's easier to see your ammo on the screen than having to look down at the keyboard.
It is, but that's not all you can do with this thing. I just threw out a couple of ideas.

Re:It would be cool for xfire, aim, non-voice teamspeak, etc. When I'm using those in a game and they pop up, I have to ctrl+esc out to see what's up. It would be cool to have a display on the keyboard in game for that. Of course, I don't have the keyboard so what do I care ;) .
