Q: I was in approval for the IBM deal and paid for the 1300 r51
I now found out my model BDS1829KDU doenst have a cdrom. Ive never bothered to check CUS I assumed all laptops come with at least one CD rom.
So what can I do? Im going to call IBM TMR and hopefully I can cancel the order. Is clerance sale and I cannot back if the damn thing shipped.
in the worst situation, is there a way for me to provide an integrated CDRW / DVD for the system to get? that made possible?

Re:they make internal cd-rom drives and such. check'em out at newegg i was trying to find them i know they are there just keep looking.

Re:I looked at a half dozen sites selling these things, and they all list a CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive. If yours doesn't include one, you can buy an internal for the modular drive bay.

on IBM's website, it looks like all the r51 laptop series comes with cdrw/dvd-rom combo drives, actually.
One more reason to look before you buy.

Re:CD/DVD-ROM is handy for installing software and watching movies. But these days when I need to move data via sneakernet, I generally use a USB thumbdrive / USB memory stick.
But the vast majority of my data gets moved over my 802.11g network.

Re:Just looked up your model then on the IBM website. It says that is has a built in optical drive.
Re:It should come with one, but obviously it doesnt, so it depends on the laptop. Some of them, such as most dells have drive bays in them. Usually they have 2, and 1 is used for the battery. You will have to look up on this to see whether this laptop has bays in them

Re:They have extrernal dvd/cd-rw/cd drives you can plug through the usb ports…..Does the board have usb 2.0 or firewire ports as well..
