passive cooling on a GeForce 3 Ti200 core? [geforce 3] [passive cooling]

Q: Im trying to reduce the noise in my case as much as possible . I was wondering if it is possible for a passive cooler is connected to the core of my Ti200? Chipset cooler like the Zalman, and I think has a new alpha line of chipset heatsinks out . Everyone has some experience with this?

Re:Someone told me to use a HS/F setup off of a cooler for a Xeon chip. I haven't looked into it, but I can't imagine it being any smaller than the Dragon Orb setup. I don't know if I want to take up 3 pci slots..

Another suggestion was the Zalman HS. I can't remember the name of it now. It's really long and not all that tall comparitively. I've heard a mixed bag there. Some say that I can OC with it and others say that I should be running a fan anyway. Zalman actually recommends that you run their fan on it if you are running a higher end card like the GF4.

If you plan on overclocking the gf3ti200 you need a fan .

That's not true, there's a guide (http://www.tweakup.dk/howto/dragonorb-geforce/1.htm) for putting a DragonOrb 3 (minus fan although it could be left on for even more insane cooling) and the author got his Ti200 to 240/540 with this ! Still, it'll take up at least 3 pci-slots. I know the article's in danish, but the pictures speak for themselves, ask if you want it translated.

The Myth Of Passive Income.
Re:Either of those would work. I recently put a 45mm Alpha wing heatsink on my friend's GF2 Ti. I know it's not a GF3 Ti200, but it should be fine, as long as you don't OC. Don't forget to pick up some Arctic Alumina Thermal Epoxy to attach it with
Which HS is better? The winged HS? Did your buddy have to go without the number one PCI slot with this HS?

I know that the AS Thermal adhesive adheres the HS, but does it attach like a HS to a CPU or do you just spread the adhesive all over the HS? I am putting this HS over an exposed core, aren't I? I'm sorry. I've never done anything with the graphics card before.

Thanks again

Re:Anyone have any ideas for a good HS so I can go with on this card? I don't know if simply unplugging the fan on the stock hs is the way to go.

Re:As I have read, stock ti200's do not need active cooling.

I just recently bought a brown-box msi ti200 with nothing but a big black heatsink on it. I think that if your card came with a sufficient quality heatsink, you could just take the fan off.

Re:I'd love to know as well. This is the last noisy thing in my case and I'd love to address it. Preferrably , but I'd go for anything that is quieter than the stock HSF on the GPU of my GF3 Ti200.
