Q: OK, I have an issue that just does not work. Ive tried 3 different working power supplies. Ive tried 3 different motherboards in the works. I have tried many different stations. The only thing is the same, the front panel switches and the sheet metal housing itself. Everything else has changed. Boards simply reboot. Nothing. Press the front panel switch, nothing happens. OK, so the switch is bad. No, its not. Tried the screwdriver trick and the boards are still not start. I even switched to the reset and power switches as well. I have changed the stand-offs under the motherboard, I used insulating washers and spacers between the motherboard, virtually tried everything I could think of. Each board runs fine outside of the case. All the hardware I use working. The only thing that is not the case. Any ideas?
I also tried with nothing connected to the board, except for the ATX power connector, shorting the switch pins with a screwdriver (no lights on the front panel or speaker, etc.)

Re:Again, if anyone wants the case, PM me and it's yours. I have ordered a replacement. I have been beaten.
Compudog you got PM
sig I think explains everything:P;)
Re:Hm… I was gonna help ya out but I don't do seances.
Re:Heh, my roommate's brother had a case like that for a while, and I think I used one to build a computer for my ex. No problems with either of those. I was gonna say I'd take the case, but I don't think I want it just because it's a crappy small case to me.
Re:Firmly strike the top of the case 3 times while shouting DEMON BE GONE!!! if it doesn't work at least you'll have vented some fustration
Re:Thanks, but I already tried that. What is most peculiar about this whole thing is the case worked just fine for a few years (originally had a Asus P5-99VM motherboard with an AMD K62-500 cpu) The client wanted an upgrade (they got an AMD Duron 1.3 on a Biostar M7VKQ w/20 gig HDD/192 MB RAM/and the rest of their original stuff.) So I took the old stuff out, put the new in and this is when it started. The old rig would occasionally not start correctly, but a couple of tries to the front panel switch and it would start up and run fine.
And it wasn't one of the cheapest cases on the market at the time either. The original PS was a 300W Deer. Here's a pic (http://www.csctechnology.com/AT/case.jpg) of what the case looks like (without the USB ports).
Again, if anyone wants the case, PM me and it's yours. I have ordered a replacement. I have been beaten. ![]()
Re:Well before you totally give up on it. Unplug everything except the power, and the cpu fan. Do not plug in any the front panel stuff! (reset, pled, hdd, power, speaker, etc) then try the screwdriver trick.
One experience I had was a cheap case had a shorted reset and the board wouldn't work till I pulled the reset switch.
Re:No go. I've given up. If anyone is looking for a challenge, PM me and I will send you this case. I'm done with it.
Re:bless w/ voodoo magic……it always deters the spirits.
Re:This afternoon, time permitting, I am going to dive into this one more time. I have a replacement case on order from CMI (http://www.cmicomputer.com) because it just isn't worth the aggravation anymore. I don't like to be beaten like this, but a $30 case isn't going to set me back too much. Anyone with more ideas?
guy, I'll do a google seach later for the witch doctor/exorcist later… ![]()

Maybe try a different case?
Re:the only thing *I* can think of is that it may be that your motherboard(s) are touching something (I had one that the standoffs were a bit too small and the solder on the back of the mobo barely touched the case itself). If you have some sort of non-conductive padding you can put on the back of the mobo or the inside of the case where the motherboard is then you could try that. If it doesnt work I can recommend google.com to search for how to get rid of the evil spirits via a witch doctor or something
Re:^^ Bump…
Last time. About to give up on this one.
Re:I was going to suggest the standoffs, or perhaps the ground screw.
hmm…
Interesting problem. Im not great with electrical problems, which is what you have here.
