Q: If PC133 memory first came most of it was backward compatible with PC100 machines. Now, thats apparently not so. Is there a simple way how to tell which modules are backward compatible?
Memory Improvement Techniques
Re:choose one:
1. check the motherboard chipset spec. and the memory spec. before ordering.
2. get 128MB double side, don't get 128MB single side or 256MB double side or above.
3. buy from Crucial or similar place thru the memory selector only.

Re:I know that PC100 sticks are available, but they do not want to put $100 in memory into a machine that is only worth $100.
Sagittarius Compatibility
Re:Like I said, buy from Crucial to begin with and you'll know it will work
The memory could just be bad rather than incompatible, if you have anything else that takes SDRAM you might test it there.
Tips and Secrets for a Better Memory
Re:I am doing a favor for a coworker-they want to upgrade their 3 year old HP computers ram. It is not worth much and I came across some PNY PC133 128mb chips on clearance at Office Depot for $10. I could not find any useful info at PNY.
EDIT-10pm The Computer will not boot with the PNY PC133 installed.

Re:If you use the memory selector at www.crucial.com it is guaranteed to work. It costs a little more than rolling the dice with cheap RAM or eBay, but those savings disappear if you have to RMA or eat the cost of an eBay buy.

Re:As long as you don't use "high density" PC133 in older boards it should work fine. Stick with a 16×8 configuration.
