Q: Currently I have a motherboard that supports agp not got a card Voodoo5 5500pci not seem to work well w / my p2 350MHz gatway. Im upgrading to a P4 1.4 W / 256 megs ram and an AGP 4x board. I have an extreme differecne in performance can be seen on my PCI card to do to upgrade or do I lose my voodo and go w / a new AGP card?
Re:Your V5 will scale nicely with your faster processor. The Voodoo5, like the Kyro2 loves fast CPUs.
My advice is to keep the card until prices of the GF3 fall and the next generation of cards are released from ATi and PowerVR. The V5 is still a good card.
Re:Yes, keep the V5pci, 3dfx pci cards are nearly as fast as their agp versions. Not so other manufactures.
I don't think the V5 scales well either, so you should see a huge performance increase fps/speed wise. (though I could be off on this)
Re:Its stilla great card and comparable to V5 AGP…
Just wait till the GF3 come down in prive then upgrade..
Re:what fps should i get w the card i have
Re:If your really into gaming then you should go ahead and get a nice AGP card. If you play quake3 bi-weekly for an hour than you should just save the money until GF3's are cheaper and easier to find.
Re:Depends on what you do. If you're a gamer, upgrading to a faster AGP board will be the question of the day.
If you have a V5 5500 PCI, you can use it in the mean time and do the waiting game until the GF3s lower in price some.
Also depends on how much you're willing to shell out for a video card.
