Play audio files from Windows to share . [samba windows] [slackware]

Q: Hi, I have a Windows share that all my audio (MP3) files reside.

I XMMS am trying to use the files on that share with the on a laptop, but XMMS will not play files from a smb: / / connection.

Are a Winamp / iTunes / Foobar style Linux apps that can play files to read from a Samba / Windows share?

Thanks!

Best Answer: Is the Windows Movie Maker audio the only one that does not work? You can hear the videos that you play on Youtube or in windows media player?
Try uninstalling windows movie maker, then re-install it. Or better yet get any other movie editing software.
If you think it is a driver-related problem you may contact me david_drake13@yahoo.com and we'll get the right one.

Re:Is it possible to mount the Windows/Samba share in the /mnt folder and then add the MP3s to the XMMS playlist that way?

Yeah, I am attempting to pull the files through the share. Maybe I need to mount it first?

Re:MPlayer can accept smb://… style URLs. But this shouldn't be a problem if you've mounted the share.
