Q: K boys and girls, help me pic out of the meat for my new system. Yes, I have a budget but do not worry about that now. I want to build around a decent setup for me to do good some good games. I have ideas for my motherboard, cpu, sound and video. I have ideas, but want to hear what you have to say. I can go either way so many intel vs amd goes. Im not looking for latest / greatest things. Quaility and just good performance type deal ya know. Thanks,
j
Best Answer: Yeah lol, that is a very low powered PSU you have now. I'd go with a good brand PSU like Antec, Thermaltake, Corsair, etc around 550-650 watts
The 220 GT is a lower end card, very low for the Nvidia 2** series, but it all depends on if it fits your needs or not. If you want a really good video card for around $150-160, I'd go for the 5770 ATI radeon
The motherboard looks good, ASUS is a top brand there

Re:And what are you guys doing labeling the Geforce4 Ti4400 as 200$?! The lowest price i've seen is 275$, the retail price is 299$.
Not to be rude people, but you guys are *wrong*
The 200$ Geforce4 is the Ti4200.
That's delayed a month.
Strangeranger, please wait until the release of the Ti4200, you won't be disapointed. Dual monitor… Superb 3d acceleration, nice DVD playback, etc etc etc…
And *if* you wanna get the best performance pick the P4T-E but you're not guaranteed to hit 133MHZ FSB… with PC1066 speeds..

Re:P4S333
P4 1.6A@2130MHZ (The new Celeron 300A, I.E. 95% chance for overclock)
Wait a while for the Geforce4 Ti4200
SB Audigy
Corsair 256MB PC2700
Baracuda ATAIV seagate 40/80GB harddrive (Depending on budget)
Probably one of those Alpha P4 heatsinks setup with a silencer fan for added chance of overclock and stability
Nice case
Liteon DVD drive
Ricoh 20X10X40 or whatever you want (I own that drive so I reccomend it..)
Anything else people?

Re:I'd say stay away from that particular Epox board since it has been found to be a problem to fit certain video cards in it.
if you don't want to overclock I'd say:
- Athlon 1700+ retail, $10 more expensive than 1600+
- Soltek SL-75DRV4 (kt266A)
- Soundblaster Audigy OEM or Turtle Beach Santa Cruz depending on preference)
- GF4 4400 (~$300) or ATI Radeon 8500 if you don't want to spend as much (can be had for $135)
- 1 x 512 MB Crucial PC2100 DDR
If you do want to OC:
- Intel P4 1.6A
- Asus P4T-E
- 2 x 256 MB Samsung PC800 RDRAM
- Soundblaster Audigy OEM or Turtle Beach Santa Cruz depending on preference)
- GF4 4400 (~$300) or ATI Radeon 8500 if you don't want to spend as much (can be had for $135)
or for a little cheaper
- Intel P4 1.6A
- Asus P4B266-C
- 1 x 512 MB Corsair PC2700 DDR
- Soundblaster Audigy OEM or Turtle Beach Santa Cruz depending on preference)
- GF4 4400 (~$200) or ATI Radeon 8500 if you don't want to spend as much (can be had for $135)

Re:Athlon 1600+ retail $115
EPOX EP-8KHA+ $91 or SOLTEK SL-75DRV5 $109 (kt266a vs KT333)
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card $~70 NewEgg just died on me
Gainward GeForce 3 Ti200 ~$150, can be overclocked to Ti500 speeds…or wait for a GeForce 4 Ti4400, which will be ~$199.
