Q: Hi there,
Im thinking about getting some software that periodically back up the folder “My Documents” to another hard drive in order to avoid unpleasant surprises .
Can Can you advise me such software?
Ideally, I would be able to once and on (to back up the folder every 10 days or so .)
If can recommend some good software that is forgotten that, we should also add FREEWARE to the wire. .

Get SyncToy from Microsoft and you can use Scheduled Tasks to set a backup schedule.

I second the synctoy option. It's awesome. Here's a well written and easy to follow tutorial (http://www.pchell.com/support/synctoy.shtml) i found online. Good luck!
Re:why not just use the backup utility included in winXP?

Alas, I'm not a programmer, so I'm not sure about batch scripts…
You don't really need to know anything other than how to execute the program from the command line (instructions are easy to find).
Re:have you tried Syncback? Works for me.
