Q: Hi, just received my new Plextor
I 24/10/40a and Nero will not reconize my burner or Roxio EZ CD will Creator.
I tried Nero versions: 5.0 . 5518 . 5524 . 5530 . and to no avail .
Has everyone had the same problem?
The funny is that I do about replacing the mine 16/10/40a.with 24/10/40a . in the same computer?

Re:Goto Start -> Help and Support -> Windows Update -> Scan for Updates -> Review & Install Updates -> click "Windows XP" in the left pane -> click "Add Update for CD Burners".
If this doesn't work, try the following:
Right Click My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> IDE/ATAPI controllers -> pick the channel your CD-RW is on and right click it -> Properties -> Advanced settings -> Change the device from "DMA if availalbe" to "PIO Only"

Anyways, in WinXP, Nero 5.5.5.1 didn't recognize my HP 9150i. After installing Nero, and it didn't recognize it, I copied the wnaspi32.dll from the Program Files\Nero\Nero folder to the Windows\System32 folder. After rebooting, and starting up Nero, it recognized my CD burner.

Re:Corky -g your wrong about that , with the older version of Nero you had to remove Ez CD and install Nero and then you were able to re-install EzCD afterwards , Nero even prompts you to do this !
Dawbs you have plenty of info from the replies you got and should tell you basically if you have your drive incorrectly installed.
ceratinly the best place to start is with the bios and if you don't see it there or at boot up then you surely have the jumper incorrectly set .
Are you sharing the Plextor with another CD drive ? if so then this makes it even more important that you allocate the correct jumper to the drive.

Re:Sounds like you might have both ECDC and Nero on the same machine . . . that is a real no-no. Neither one will work then. One or the other should be completely uninstalled.

Does the drive recognize in BIOS?
Does it work in Windows Explorer as a CD-ROM?
