Q: Hello Friend Anandtechers .
My Duron700 + SY7 KTVA-Soyo mobo gives me random freezes. Under my system information / conflicts and sharing I have four devices share IRQ 11: ACPI, 2xUSB, 3Dfx Voodoo.
Ive tried a lot of things (both hardware / software, / bios) . and came only after some posts on how ACPI off helped some freezing problems issues.
I d like to know if anyone had problems, then ACPI disabled – their problems solved? or .
If anyone had any problems in the first place .

Re:Just disabled it. No change, but I have only a Video Card, NIC, Sound Card on my PC…
TIP: go into the Device Manager, computer & change the ACPI driver to Standard PC if u have ACPI & want to get rid of it in W 2K

Re:ACPI, I don't really need it. Do you have any use for it? If you don't and it's cousing problems disable it. If you system runs fine as it is then leave it.

I have an AMD 800 and run WinME! Never an ACPI problem at all. However when I was running Win2k, it was a completely different story!!
I had to D/L the latest VIA 4n1s to fix some shutdown and sleep problems it had! Basically I kept the machine on 24/7, but I also had to disable HD shutdown after xx mins and the same for the monitor!!
So, in conclusion….good luck!!
