Q: A friend of mine has the game, but disc two is broken. I suggested they contact Blizzard to see about replacement options. If that falls through, theres something I could use to copy the disc? Would it be legal if they already have the game, pay the monthly fees, et cetera? They only need to do a new installation in the near future, so try to plan ahead.
Re:Just make him a darn copy and stop acting so paranoid. In the collectors edition (cant buy it now) they actually TELL YOU to give your friend a copy of the game so they can use it to play the trial. Shame on you for making you friend have to wait on blizzard to send him a replacement disk.
Re:WOW also makes no critcal changes to the registry. I have formatted my OS drive twice since owning WOW and no reinstall is neccessary.
Re:As mentioned, the world of warcraft cds have no copy protection of any type, it being entirely redundant with a paid subscription game. So just use any software to copy them. It also requires no install process, you it's probably more convenient for whoever you are giving it to if you just zip your installed directory, put it on a dvd and give it to them – saves them patching it up.
Re:My buddy gave me a 10 day key 20 days ago… he in Utah and I am in Florida. Needless to say I couldn't find any disc iso's ANYWHERE in my attempt to play this game and possibly spend 50 bucks on it. After not finding anyway to get the game, unlike most other MMOs, to use a key I resubscribed to SWG. Bliz is making a bad mistake.
Re:Yea, it's definitely ok.
It's the subscription account that's key.
Re:I say copy the CD for him if the copy will get the job done. It's not like he didn't buy it already, and he's paying the subscription.
Re:that 10 day subsrciption that came with the deluxe version required purchase of the full game after the trial
Re:I thought you could just loan the disks to a friend, let them install it for 10days and then if they like it, they just keep up the subscription.
Re:blizz are fools that they dont make the game data widely available and free to dl
the game data is worthless without a subscription, so i see no reason not to copy it
Re:By linking you to this site, I am not authorizing copying game, music or install CDs or DVDs for illegal purposes. (http://www.slysoft.com/en/download.html)
Re:If Bliz doesn't help the guy out, then I would say it should be fine to make a copy of disc 2 if they have bought the game already. After it's installed you don't even need a disc in the machine and it's not the discs that matter as much as it is the cd key to play online.
Re:I'd just copy the CD for him… It's not like he can play without a valid CD-Key anyway…
