Q: satai a 80GB that I have a setup with a 30GB partition that I use
is not possible to change the size of the partition to 40GB, so I can install Vista, XP, and without destroying the data on space unpartioned ?

Pretty sure it works with both. Can't remember if the disk I tried it on was Basic or Dynamic but the volume in question was the system volume which is pretty cool.
If you are familiar with the Extend command in diskpart it works like that. They just added the Shrink command.

what might be cool to try if your bios supported it would be to get a large usb jump drive and try that?
Was reading yesterday I think that vista is supposed to be able to use flash memory like that for ram if it doesn't work??
Just a thought, might not be practical but just a thought.

Lk on the forums Although it is har to find I know that there is an app called "partition resizer" or something that can resize yor current partition. o If you only scratch the surfae of the software forum, you will find free apps, but they only work on secondary drives….
Honestly, the easiet thign to do is download a linux distribution Msot of the installers that have partition managers that can desize/delete/mvepartitions with ease:D
I am 100% sure that ubuntu and redhat 9 can do it…..if you can get you hands on koppix's live CD, jsut run it and us the program "QT parted"
It is a fantastic visual partion manager that resmbles partion magic by powerquest (now owned by symantec)
