Q: Well, Ive upgraded for the first time and I feel good . however
There are some big problems .
I have a P4 2.8c, asus p4p800e Deluxe, a 512 horny value pc3200 RAM and a 40GB hd Infineon old.
Currently, I am running an evaluation copy of WindowsXP that expires in 14 days, why? Because everything else dont work.
My copy of WindowsXP will not copy a file during installation, and I have no idea how my 2000PRO stop corrupting my C drive.
I 2000PRO can install fine, and it will work and everything. But once I reboot, it gives me a bluescreen telling me that I should run chkdsk and my new hardwares and stuff. I thought I may need to update my 2000pro, but installing the onboard Ethernet card for access to the Internet needs to restart to enable, and as I have said, I get stabbing on the blue screen when I restart.
also see the use of USB for internet i cannot either this new MoBo, I can actually play Counter Strike with it, but when I open Internet Explorer a few flashy Web site, such as gamespot.com, it will crash my computer and restart. or if I have a map in Counter-Strike with Steam to download, it will crash and restart . Review this
with XP Home, I seem to do everything right, but there are still many small problems with the performance. whats wrong and where do I start? please help thanks = [
ps: I tried to activate the evaluation copy, but it says it is the wrong ID . So I think that from the options
Re:repartition and reformat then a clean install of xp
Re:If your motherboard has the memory voltage at Auto, bump that to 2.7 volts and start from the top… reformat C: and install Windows. Also, if you don't have a cable/DSL router to serve as a firewall or if you have other computers on your side of your router (wired or wireless), it would be a good idea to have these on a CD to help batten the hatches before plugging into your network:

Re:wipe the hd? ive done that like a couple times…but not wiping the whole thing tho just the C partition. power supply should be fine it's a new 430 one. im using ribbon cables that came witht he p4p800e deluxe. the temp of the mobo is 31 and cpu is 40 currently, and the cpu goes up to 46 after a couple hours of CS.
the thing is, why does xp work and 2000Pro just crap out? =[
Re:Run memtest86 for a while. If you're using crappy rounded cables, try proper ribbon cables. Is the machine hotter than it should be? Do you have a decent power supply?
Re:He means clean install. Wipe the hd and start from scratch.
Re:give it a clean? you mean cleaning it? well i dont see any dirt or whatever on the cd so im not sure if its a cleaning issue.
Re:First thing to try is giving your proper copy of Windows XP a clean – it may be this which is preventing one file being copied. I'd also set BIOS to defaults and unplug everything non-essential before trying a reinstall. Do you have any other RAM you can try?
