Problem with Firefox and Ctrl + F [firefox] [ctrl f]

Q: If I Ctrl + F, the bar appears at the bottom but when I hit something in it, does not find it, even when Im looking at it on the page. Has anyone had this problem and knows how to fix it?

Re:Do a search for "compreg.dat" (it should be in your profile folder). make a backup of it and delete the original. restart (compreg.dat will be recreated). report back.

Re:virtually every page, including ones on anandtech. am i really the only one?

Re:Can you post a sample website and steps-to-reproduce the issue? Maybe it is a FRAME or IFRAME issue — that is, is only searching the current frame?

Re:I just enable the "start finding as you type" option and I never hit Ctrl-F. It used to bug me but this option makes it behave more like their default options for Linux.

Re:no one else is plagued by this? :-/

Re:hate to resurrect an old thread, but this has been annoying me forever now. is there any hope for a fix?

Re:another problem with the find feature (type as you find) is… on 2 occasions between last night and just now, I would be typing something like I am right now and suddenly it would think I'm doing a find and stop-prompt me that it's not found… I click back in the editor here and start typing again… it takes the 1st letter, then thinks the 2nd-character-onward is part of a find. I had to keep doing this over and over until my message was complete. WTF ?!

Re:That doesn't work, already tried, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, I don't know why it's inconsistent.

Re:Try clicking somewhere in the table/frame where you wanna seek, above the text(that is, at the top of the text if you don't know where it is).
The search function has been a long standing annoyance under Mozilla/ for me, it flat out sucks.
