Q: Hey, Im trying my friends laptop fixed. His problem is that when he tries to browse, he has to type “http://” in the URL (for each page). It can not just type in, for example: www.cnn.com or newegg.com, “http://” must precede the whole thing in url.
How can I fix this? Its really annoying to always type in the http:// infront of each site for all the help he can give to.
Thanks us.

Re:Update:
OK, I just ran Adaware and removed all the spyware but I still have the same problem. I installed Opera web browser and it works perfectly. I can type in ex: www.cnn.com and it goes straight to the page with no delays.
With Internet Explorer, I type in www.cnn.com and it waits for like 30seconds before it actually goes to the web page.
This is really strange why IE delays before it goes to the web page.

Re:You could also try enabling IE to check if it's the default browser the next time it is started. When it starts up again, make sure you click 'Yes' and tell it not to ask again. Another app may have taken control of you URL handler.
