Q: I am setting up a PC and every time I do, I have a problem just format the disk, it gives me the error:
“The hard disk may be damaged or make sure that SCSI devices properly terminated, etc. etc.
The disk is brand new, I replaced because he thinks that bad, Im set to Cable Select, so no problem there, everyone has different ideas? it happens no matter what CD I use, maybe its a RAM problem?
Best Answer: no, you can use the same one
During installation it will ask you to enter your Windows CD key which is located on a green and yellow sticker somewhere. Also once you finish installing it, windows will ask you to activate itself. You can do it over the internet or phone
Re:list the sys specs/create a sig, what all was changed,is this a fresh install, how many hd are connected, the installation drive is it a cd rom,dvd rom,dvd recorder, who is the hd manufactuer
Re:I've had this problem before with burned copies of the XP cd…some files on the cd were corrupt. Dug up one of our original cds and it worked fine.
Re:In terms of RAM I had a problem installing XP and finally got it to work when I had only one stick of RAM installed instead of the two in there previously. MS Tech support gave me that idea and lo and behold it worked!
Re:Be sure that if you are using Cable Select, you're using a "cable select" cable. Right? (Actually, I have very little experience with cable select, but I think it requires a special cable.)
I prefer the master/slave manual jumpers myself with the straight-through cables.
Re:Agreed, removing the jumper sometimes works.
Re:Is this a Western Digital PATA drive ?
If yes and it's the only drive on the channel then try completely removing the jumper.
