Question about Logitech MX series mice? [mx series] [wheel mouse]

Q: I have the Optical Mouse Special Edition and the optical sensor is idling (almost kind of off) when the mouse is stationary. Im wondering if the optical sensor on the new mice is this? And how do you like your mouse?

Best Answer: While the D975X motherboard will work with a single nVidia 9600GT, that motherboard is a waste of money.

Why pay an extra $100 for ATI Crossfire capability which you cannot use? The only reason to get that board is if you will be using two ATI graphics cards. You cannot run nVidia SLI on an ATI Crossfire board, at least not without hacked nVidia drivers that are unstable, buggy and unsupported.

I suggest you save a hundred bucks or so and get yourself a more recent P43-chipset motherboard if you are only going to run one graphics card. Or an nForce-7 SLI motherboard if you want to run two nVidia cards.

You also need to make sure the monitor you are buying is HDCP-compliant and has either a DVI or HDMI port, if you want to use that computer to play back Blu-Ray discs in High-Definition (since you did list a Blu-Ray drive).

As far as power supplies go, the 9600GT isn't a particularly power-hungry card. A 400W PSU from a quality brand like Seasonic will be more than plenty for your whole system, even if you SLI two of those.

Re:I have the mx700 and due to the location of the light you can't see it. The mouse has no lag and their is no noticeable lag when you move the mouse as in the newest microsoft wireless. The mouse is a bit heavy due to the rechargeable batteries but it works great.

Re:The LED on my mx500 never fades when I leave it stationary.
But I don't have the mouseware stuff installed, if that would make any kind of a difference.

I had an original intellimouse explorer, and the LED faded on that when I left it still for a short while.

Re:My old intellimouse would do the same thing. Never happens on my dual optical.

Re:I've noticed this behavior on my Microsoft Wireless Explorer, presumably some kind of battery-saving mode, but never on my corded mice.
On my second computer, I've got a Logitech MX300 corded mouse. Very nice. Smooth and accurate. Highly recommended.

i thought pretty much all optical mice did that…..

i dont have one but i thought i should comment :)
maybe get my confusion solved

Yea basically the light dims… I've noticed this more than on my other optical mouse the MS Optical. But also I guess might be a problem sometimes in an fps type game when I dont move it, the mouse dims then if I need to do a quick jerk of the mouse from its "idle" position sometimes it looses track where it was…

Stop camping then :P I can't think of any situation in ANY fps game where your mouse sits idle for over a second. Either way, the older logitech optical led lights do light back up pretty quickly. Maybe yours is just defective.
