Q: I just started this game and every Tuesday they have discovered that the servers for maintenance to 11PST.
My question is closed, they are still down until then? . Or do they sometimes come back online before.
Best Answer: I don't know how many people play it, but it is probably at least in the tens of thousands. Now all those people don't play on one server, they play on different servers, and by different servers I mean you need to sign up at separate websites and different people run them. It depends on how nice the hosting and bandwidth are for the server on how many people can play, most also experience lag more than official servers.
There are two types of servers: Funservers and Blizzservers,
Funservers are not modeled after Blizzard's servers, they have things like: max level 254, gold multiplied(like a creature that would normally drop 1g drops 2, 4, 100g instead), custom instances, custom items, experience multiplied(instead of 450 you get 1000, 10000, or 4500000), they have vendors and malls full of them where you can get everything you need.
Blizzservers are basically just like blizzard servers, no multipliers, no levels above 70 or 80, nothing majorly different from blizzard servers.
Here are two websites listing servers by popularity, the servers also have a short description and you can get a more detailed one by clicking their link:

Also lastly this is security, please post correctly next time. This should be in video games.

not to get off topic but i played wow for about 7 months from release. the game was amazing. everything was new and you couldn't wait to get to the new areas. once i got to endgame though, it was like a chore to play and wasn't fun anymore.
indeed. i just didn't need another 'job' outside of my paying job. i took 3 months off and just pvp here and there for gear on my alt.
when i see the some of the gear i miss out on my warlock, i almost cry. nonetheless, i was speaking with my friend about XPAC recreating that "NEW" feeling when you start the game and exploring. I wanna play XPAC but i wanna casually quest and test the 5 man dungeon.
so i dunno, i'm undecided.
i haven't been keeping up with the expansion but from what i read previously, it didn't sound like it added much for the casual type player.
the servers go down every teus, normally come up round 2 EST but they are often early/late
as for teh xpac they are adding in a bunhc of new 5/10/15 man instances so it is catering to the casual much more

Back when I used to play, the rule of thumb was to add 4 hours to what Blizzard said it was going to take and pray that you would get past "authenticating"
Then after "authenticating", it was another 4 hours to get past "handshaking". ![]()

Re:Well, most of them came up way earlier than expected. My server was lucky enough to be one.
Re:if I remember correctly today's maintenance is a little longer than normal. now to your question – sometimes I think they come up early and sometimes they take longer. the first few weeks after a patch release have a better chance of being down longer.
