Random reboots XP – I can not find out. [menu screen] [bios]

Q: started a few weeks ago, at first slowly, then more frequency.

the only pattern I can see it always reboots during Spybot scan. I can not even run a XP reinstall – reboot immediately after I reach the . Sometimes when trying
to reinstall, I have a bluescreen, which reports a problem to get hijackthis setupdd.sys.

Nothing suspect.
Memory memtest86.
I past flashed the to the most current.
I again nForce2 drivers Nvidia.
Cutting FSB speed to take stock nothing.
Temperatures are fine (restart at 39C processor once)
DiskCheck surfaced nothing.

Here s my Setup: Athlon XP2500 OC to 3200, Asus A7N8X Deluve Rev. 2, 2×512 PC3200,
Radeon 9600, Win XP Professional SP2 with all patches.

The only software that was recently added IE7 beta2 (removing it did not), Windows Genuine Advantage ( this can not be removed, apparently) 0.

Can someone save me from format / install? Any help is appreciated.

Re:Just do a Repair Install…there's no reason to have to format. Repair Installs keep your current programs and settings in place, and you don't end up with two separate installations of XP on the same drive.

Re:Download and run the Prime95 program. It's a free program to use. Open it and select the 'torture test' and let it run for a while. If it gives you a hardware error message or causes your system to reboot, then you've got hardware failure somewhere, which is most likely ram failing or possible overheating.

Re:I've got another HD laying around that I formatted last night. I'll install the OS tonight or
tomorrow, then I'll copy over the docs I want to keep. Hopefully that'll fix the issue.

Thanks.

Re:Hi all.

I tried running Spybot in Safe Mode with Networking – BSOD with no info.

Rebooted into Safe Mode without Networking – BSOD, said the problem seemed to be ntfs.sys, and stated PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA (I think. I should have written
it down)

Other symptoms I forgot to mention before – I keep installing macromedia flash, but on next reboot has to be reinstalled (though it's still in the add/remove control panel).
Same with JAVA. Install it, and it works fine until next boot.

I think this came up and was installed in Windows Update, which I check at least once a
week. At any rate, thanks. I applied it again right now. Will let you know if the issue is
resolved.

I'll try that just to be sure tonight after work. Thanks.

Re:I tried resetting the CPU back to 2500. Both by lowering the multiplier and by lowering
the FSB. No dice.

What's really throwing me is the bluescreen during XP reinstall. I mean, Windows isn't even loading fully then, is it?
