Reboot of one party or application errors [application errors] [p4p800 deluxe]

Q: Hi, I recently together a machine with a board, P4 2.8 GHz processor, 2×256 Kingston PC3200 DDR KVR400X64C3AK2/512 ram, Geforce 2 MX400, WD 80 gig 7200 RPM master drive, and everything on a 400 watt Antec nutrition. Since I put it together, Win XP Pro is another lot, as much as three times in 10 minutes, and as little as once a day. Most of the time, it is an IE bug. I was surfing the Internet, and suddenly I want an error message Explorer has to close, and sometimes (a few minutes), then the computer would restart. I also experience with AIM, and My Pictures screen saver. I have a strong belief that the associated memory because when I run on a single module is fine. I tried manually adjusting the memory timings in the bios, but in vain. Ive also run memtest86 for at least 10 times, each time for at least 3 hours, and only once did they come up with errors, and that was on trial 5 and 8 while running in dual channel mode. The other time I was running dual channel I got no errors, but the computer still restarts. So far the only thing that works is one DIMM at a time, causing me no problems. I would like to know whether this is a ram or motherboard problem, and if anyone has any suggestions for me I would appreciate it very much.

Re:Alright, I believe I will return the ram, but before I do, what kind of ram should I get in return, i.e. what kind of DDR400 ram is best for the with a P4 2.8? I would prefer to get dual channel 512 mb total, or 1 stick of 512.

Re:memory problems I'd say

Re:so you have a bad stick of RAM. RMA it for a new stick.
memtest86 (http://www.memtest86.com) is a good test for your memory.

Re:For error reports in the event viewer, I'll have to check when I'm back at my computer, but its something like "faulting module internet explorer at address __________" and in the system error log I get a save dump error with something like "the system has rebooted from a bugcheck……." I can be more specific if need be. As for overclocking, nothing is overclocked. And as for temperatures, nothing hardly ever goes above 40 celsius. Its wierd because one piece of ram in there works perfectly fine, but 2 sticks of ram in dual channel is bad news.

Re:Anything overclocked?

Re:What kind of errors does event viewer report if any?

Re:It is most definitely not ECC

Re:is your memory ECC?

your board wont support it if it is
