Q: What brand / PN, etc?
I took a Panduit CAT6 compliant plug but are made of five pieces and it seems like it would be a pain in the end .
Found number of connections, but they have blue coat .
Looking for good, CAT6 termination is “ivory” that “works” . “Work” is defined as something that the CAT6 standard, but is relatively easy to install .
Re:Perhaps it's an issue of technique.
When you are terminating to a punchdown, the "easiest / best" way is to untwist a loop into the pair (not at the end, you only make an "eye" in the twist).
Push the "eye" you created over the post (because you now have a handle on both sides, you can slide it to the bottom and into a partial grip on the IDC contacts)
Once you get your pair seated, then punch 'em (watch your "cut" side of the punch0
Now you have a nice clean punch, the pair is maintained all the way up to the punch (**PER SPEC**) and you didn't waste all that time untwisting a couple inches of 26ga.
Give it a shot
Good Luck
Scott
Re:I always pull out a foot or two of slack for termination, and pull it back into the ceiling/wall when I'm done. I don't like to leave slack in the box, that leads to bends that can't possibly be within cat5e spec.
Re:idk, maybe I just havent come up a technique that works well on them since they always take me longer than other brand jacks. Unless you push the wires far enough into the pin slots they will pop out on me as Im getting the other pairs to where they belong. The 2 dust covers are kinds of annoying and they are harder to get into a box since they stick out further. Its easier to terminate these with a lot of slack but all that slack is hard to get into the box to toss on the faceplate.
I was trying to find it yesterday but these are nice: Text.
Re:??? they work fine for me. I've done a lot of terminations on the Clarity6 TrackJacks myself. No different than any other decently designed jack. (some manufacturers do them in a way that it seems like the pairs are never where you need them to be, didn't have that problem with the Ortronics).
Pandiut makes good stuff too. Haven't terminated anything on them myself, but a lot of pros use them.
Re:What panduit jacks have 5 pieces? Do you have a link?
Ive used some panduit jacks and I really liked them. i think this is it Text (http://cableorganizer.com/panduit/cat5e-jacks-and-faceplates.htm) Takes 1 or 2 to get used to since they dont use a punch down tool but once i got used themit i could fly though them.
Not a big fan of the Ortronics Clarity. Kind of a pain unless you have tons of slack.
Re:Ortronics Clarity TrackJack.
Haven't used IMO II with Cat6, but I like that series too.
