Q: To make a long story short I made a mistake by changing the status of my admin users to power and I do not know my admin password.
I think its easier to simply reinstall Windows 2000 and be done with it. Problem is that I have information I had not backed up yet as a firewall, antivirus, ad-aware 9800pro drivers (omega), onboard sound drivers, games and so on.
What would you do? I just need to reinstall to get back my administrator status (Password). Any suggestions before I reinstall?

Re:Dude, the options I gave you would allow you to keep your data intact, along with your current installed configuration. You can take my advice and try and find out how to use a Linux disk to reset your password, or you can reinstall. The repair option would more likely than not require the same password.

I was hoping for the windows repair method so that I could not loose any data yet but if I still need to type in my original password then its useless:(
Only other option is a full reinstall….ugh!!

Why are you concerned about these items?I imagine he really means he is woprried about the "games and so on", because I do agree it is silly and pointless to worry about things that are easily redownloaded or reinstalled. Also, you can avoid reinstalling by resetting the admin password using a tool like ERD Commander (costs $$) or a Linux boot disk (search the archived messages for the method – costs no $$) or wait until someone tells you how to do it in your current thread. I don't know how, so I can't tell you, other than to tell you to search for it.
