Q: I have some fd programs on my system that does not show up in Add / Remove (or I can not tell). Any thoughts on how I can eliminate these programs from my system?
Best Answer: there are spam
Re:Thanks. I used the program regcleaner and located the adult thingy, deleted it there and now its gone. I don't remember the name or even clicking on anything that would put it there, but its gone now. I didn't realize some of the programs could bury themselves that way. In any event, I've deleted other programs and just wanted to make sure they were off of my system. I can't tell you how many times I'll see something in my ADD/REMOVE or in the registry that I have no clue what function it has. I would hate to delete something that's important and f'up my machine. I guess I've got a lot of learning to do. Thanks again for your help!
Re:Ok, now we're getting somewhere. TFAK5 is "Trojans First Aid Kit Version 5", which is used to seek out Trojan Horse programs on your pc. Why can't you find any uninstall file? Here's the blurb from the install.txt file in the tfak5.zip package:
"TFAK does not change your registry or places any files in your Windows folder.
It just uses the files in the folder you unzipped it into, so you can delete
it and there is nothing of it left on your PC."
Now, as for the "Adult" program, don't tell me…it put a shortcut on your Start Menu, possibly? Something that was supposed to be a picture or something and it turned out to be an executable?
If you don't want to post the name of the file here, Private Message me and I'll see what I can find on it. Otherwise, rightclick the icon of this Adult thing and click Properties. Then, see what the path is. (e.g. c:\windows\blahblahblah.exe) Give me the name of the file and we'll see what we can find on it.
Otherwise, I'd delete the file the icon points to, and, of course, the icon. Additionally, I'd run your msconfig.exe and see if it's running at startup (startup tab).
Then, I'd download a freeware Anti- Trojan Horse program that's updated all the time called "Ants". Get it here:
It's written by some Germans, and, while most of it is in English, there's some German still in some of the messages. Nevertheless, if it found anything, you'd know it.

Re:I can't locate the program folders. One is called Tfak5 and another is of an adult nature and is on my desktop and nowhere else that I can find. Thanks for your assistance btw.
Re:give me some examples…what programs? and look at my last option…delete the program folders then run the registry cleaner.
Re:Thanks guy, but I'm talking about downloaded programs that don't show in the ADD/REMOVE and do not have uninstall options. I've had several that I've deleted, but the system tells me that doing this will not UNISTALL the program from my system. Any thoughts on removing those bastich programs?
Re:First, you can reinstall the offending applications. By doing that, you'll ensure that Windows will make an accurate log of what was installed and where.
Then, uninstall them via Add/Remove programs.
Or, you could see if the programs have their own uninstall option….click the Start Button, then Programs, and then find your program in the list and see if one of the options is "Uninstall".
Or, you could delete the program folders for the apps. Then, run a great freeware registry cleaner called Regcleaner. Get it here (free):
