Q: files, almost 3 GB of music from one disk to another. Explorer is taking forever.
I tried xcopy from DOS and it was not stifled.
Remember when we get our fine autoexec.bat s ANC tune with statements like config.sys FILES = xx, xx and buffers =?
Maybe I need to do something that blossom or are they outdated WIN98SE?
I can create a new partition (with Partition Magic) and then just copy the entire partition . but I would rather not do.
Is another copy command I can use?

Re:When booted to w2k the same thing happened to me, but when booted to XP there was no comparison. Xp was butta.
Re:why not transfer a few at a time 100 here a 100 there
Re:This really sucks!
I tried using a nifty backup program "Backup to CD-RW" I downloaded from CNET and it chokes too!…almost 2 hours later and it is on alpha order C! I cannot figure out what the bottleneck is.
Thing is I copied these Mp3's to an extra 4 GB hard drive from my brothers system. It only took about 20 minutes using Explorer. Now I can't copy to my system's drives.
I may have to pull out some old DOS tricks.
Re:I moved 30GB+ worth of MP3 from one drive to another on 2000 Server and everything went like clock work. Piece of cake! You may want to think about moving to an NT based OS.
Re:Under DOS, you'd want a disk cache program running. SMARTDRV.COM was it?
Re:When I move a lot of files around Explorer will always hang for me after the transfer completes.
