Q: I have a CD that when I rip CDDA Ripper XP MP3s are maimed and skip. I also tried to make a picture and bury the statue, but the sound is garbled on the CD. I want to rip and throw it on my MP3 player . Is there a way around this?

Update with ClonnyCD I determind that the V 2.90.044 SafeDisc. copy.

I don't get why there is skipping. The skipping is ingrained onto the track (i.e. it plays fine in the CD player, but there is skipping on the actual audio of the CD, i natrually assumed it was copy protection)

Second thought, what CD are you trying to "make a backup of"? (might provide some insight into the problem)
The copy protection, especially Safedisc 2 is only AT THE BEGINNING for the first, I think, ~10,000 sectors? Thats it (AFAIK). For SafeDisc 2 thats it. Right in the beginning.
Why do you think people can make mini-images so easily (first 2 or 3 errors)? Because they just get the copy protection right in the beginning. So if your songs are skipping then it's not because of Safedisc.
Now whether they might have some custom copy-protection code in there is up to them.
Bad original copy comes to mind here.

There may also be "weak sectors" but that really should affect anything (and I haven't ever heard of that being a problem or being used even)
The only thing "weak sectors" would do would be to cause synchronization problems with drives. Which doesn't sound like the problem.

I wish Alc would autodetect that… or I need to find some chart listing what kind of copy protection each game has when I wish to make a miniimage.
