Q: My biggest problem is my SATA DVD drive is not recognized in the BIOS or by Windows after rebooting my computer.
In my computer I have a SATA Sony / NEC Optiarc DVD drive and a 250GB Seagate hard drive, and a other LG DVD drive. The LG drive and a Seagate drive IDE cable, the LG DVD drive is the slave and the Seagate hard drive is the master. My first problem was the first in the BIOS, the FSB was only running at 200 (standard), making the CPU running at 1.6Ghz instead of 2.13Ghz (what it should run on). The DVD drive does not disappear after a restart when I leave the FSB at 200. But when I put the FSB at 266 (making the CPU running at what it should), after each reboot the SATA DVD drive is not found. I would have to shut down the whole computer back for the DVD drive to be recognized. I have updated the chipset and BIOS to the latest version. The question is: how can I keep my CPU at 2.13Ghz to stay and have my SATA DVD drive can still be recognized in the BIOS and by Windows after each reboot?
Thanks for help
guy
Re:thanks guy, i put in a video card into the computer and enabled the CPU host clock control and that takes care of the problem.
Re:Also check for a firmware update for your optical drive. I know its frustrating because I went through a similar situation yesterday with a msi k8n neo4-f that was intermittently loosing contact with all drives while I was attempting to install windows. Turns out the mb was defective and I took it back for another nf4ultra that worked right the first time.
Re:What CPU do you have?
Re:I manually put in 266 into the FSB through enabling "CPU Host clock control" because I can not enable "O.C. FSB1066 Core 2 CPU". to enable "O.C. FSB1066 Core 2 CPU" requires a video card in the 16x pci express slot. and I am running on the intel integrated video 950 GMA.
Re:The board supports 1066MHz FSB(266×4) by overclocking. How did you set the FSB to 266? Did you Enable "CPU Host clock control" and set the FSB to 266MHz manually or did you Enable "O.C FSB1066 Core 2 CPU"? You should Enable "O.C FSB1066 Core 2 CPU".
