Q: I just started seeing this message today. : (Ive never downloaded or installed any cheats for CS, so Im not sure why I get this message. Can anyone tell me which file (s) I need to uninstall and where that file is? Does everything have to be done in register? Thanks in advance:).

For a while, it was 'fashionable' for jerks to hack their Half-Life to use the WON identification number that is unique to another user. Then, they would do their best to get the WON servers to ban the person from whom it was stolen.

I think you can e-mail WON and get your WONID changed, but I'm not sure

Re:I took a screen shot to see exactly what it says and it said that there was a 24 hour ban. I'll try it tomorrow to see if I can get in. You're right guy. I was banned from one server and there are a number of other servers I can't get into…just receiving the same message

Re:With VAC (valve anticheat) technology now in place, if you try to join too many times with cheats on your system, you could get perm-banned from the entire won server establishment.
It should not be hard to get rid of anything you installed in the past.
But if you are having trouble, you can always uninstall and completely reinstall the game.

1) I'm only using this computer at home…not like at a LAN place.
2) I try to read it, but the connection closes too quickly for me to see what everything says. I'll try a print screen.
3) I don't think I'm using any anti-cheat. I used to but I haven't downloaded any since I upgraded to 1.5. When I get into a server it always seems to download something but I donno what it is. Sometimes, it's sound files, and other times, I just see a status bar on the map.
4) Yea, version 1.5.

2) Do the servers say which cheat specifically?
3) And, are you using any anti-cheat software – Punkbuster and Paladin are two that come to mind; a few of those caused false alarms with the server-end anticheat software.
4) Last question – what version of CS? I'm assuming 1.5, but I figured I should ask.
