Q: Im pretty new at this. I have a power cable internet through a shared Sys Link Wireless Router (http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=33u0026scid=35u0026prid=544) with 3 units (clients) with the network. Is there a way I can set up my PC Win NT directly connected to the cable modem, then to the router, and then to the client PCs? Another words the Win NT PC will be directly connected to the Internet, the router will have the Internet to get the Win NT PC, and so on. I created the Win NT pc, two LAN cards one for the modem, and one for the router. Ive read about how your own Personal Web Server (http://www.dewassoc.com/support/pws/pws.htm), but other than that it is empty. Any help would be good.

Hardly. They still support NT 5 and up.

The parts of Windows NT which provide the least secure services and components are IIS services.
If you aren't concerned about potential security breaches, then use IIS or PWS and have fun.

All of the things you mention have poorly designed protocols, they weren't designed with NAT in mind so they fail horribly if you don't have an extremely smart router that can analyze the protocol and make the necessary changes in the packets as they pass through it.
For a basic web page it'll work fine, HTTP is a really simple protocol and NAT's just fine.

Good stuff.. I went thru the tutorials on that site and used their forums for any questions that were not answered in the tutorials. I run 6+ sites, e-mail, ftp, and webmail on 2 servers (w2k and linux) and I had -0- networking knowledge when I started
-Good luck. PM if you want.
