sharing Earthlink cable through a router? [smc 7004abr] [softwar]

Question: Hello everyone. I just switched over to Earthlink cable of RoadRunner. They “do not you install software (stupid TotalAccess 2003). Anyway, I try to get to work with my SMC router 7004ABR but when I connect my computer to the router and try to sign, he tells me it can not find my network adapter. However, when I plug it directly into the modem, I get the fine. Does anyone know how I can set Earthlink cable to my router and see if I can come without the software? Thanks in advance for any help. :)

Re:I've also tried Outlook Express but came across the same problems. I searched on Earthlink support and found a different SMTP server: smtp.earthlink.net instead of smtpauth.earthlink.net. I'll try the first one later tonight and see how it goes. I had some issues with Roadrunner at first with Outlook but the problems went away after a reinstall of Outlook. Thanks again guy :)

Re:If you are using outlook change. go to outlook express and I will bet it works right away. outlook has some issues with it that is at least what comcast and at&t told me. Therefore i am using outlook express. Good Luck

Re:Thanks guy. I hope you're referring to this thread (http://{$MySite}/messageview.cfm?catid=36&threadid=866898). Anyhow, my IP was renewed last night while I slept and I have the new Earthlink IP. However, I can't receive mail through Outlook. Not sure why but I think it's because I'm not connected to Earthlink through the software. Anyway, I'll keep checking the web for some answers on how to make this thing work correctly. If anyone knows how get the mail to work, please post! :)

Re:check out the other post that i posted on for an answer… it is right below yours!
