Something wrong with my PC [frequency noise] [cpu fan]

Re:My PC started mysteriously shutting itself down. Typically, right before it shut down, there'd be a loud fan noise.

It turned out that the was worn out and it'd suddenly make some noise and then stop completely. When this happened, the CPU would shut down.

A quick fan replacement got it running normally again.

I already examined the motherboard, and I see no bulging or leaking capacitors. I asked some people on techPowerUp!, and they said it was either capacitors, or the fan is dying, which it probably is.

I already replaced the power supply after a power surge killed my old one last month. ULTRA is a pretty good brand I think. I think it's owned by the same company that owns Antec. Also, the whining only started about a week after the power supply was replaced.

Ultra PSU"s are pretty far from the best. I don't recomend Antec anymore either..it was my Antec that started the high pitched sqealing before it died, while their higher end trio series is still good, smart and true powers are using low quality components..you do need to definatly look at the since your temps are so high..my overclocked X2 only runs at 51c on the stock heatsink, your single core should not be hitting 70c..

Re:Sounds like you have multiple issues, the hard drive not one of them though. Your CPU temps are way too high. As for the high pitched noise, it's more than likely either leaking/bulging capacitors on the motherboard, or the power supply going bad. My Antec started making a high pitched noise before it bit the dust. Speaking of dust, did you make sure your heatsink isn't plugged up with it? And make sure that it's fully seated and hasn't come loose? 70C is way way too hot for that CPU. I would also replace your power supply with a respectible quality brand. The PSU is what has to power all the rest of the components in your PC, and it's important to make sure you use a quality power supply. Enermax, Fortron, Seasonic, and Enhance are good brands for example.

Re:You say….
the CPU is running hot
the is making odd swooshing noises
the computer shuts down after 30 minutes
the computer runs very slow

These are all symptons of a overheating CPU.
Replace the and go from there.

Good Luck
