starting from almost the password screen and restart [gigabyte mb] [backup bios]

Q: I have XP Pro running on a with an Athlon 1800 + and a gig of memory. I have (2) 60 gig hard drive with a RAID 0 configuration. If I fire her everything is going fine until I use the Win XP splash screen as it switches to the password window on the screen blacks out the hard drives make a small racket, a bluescreen pops out for yet another of a second and The process loops back to the boot.

I tried in vain. I cleared the CMOS and installed a new battery. I took everything out of the case and reinstalled. I tried to start XP and reinstall from a backup disk — not find the hard drives. I have my Partition Magic boot disk and it says error 1516 partition C. unproperly dismantled. Is there anyone out there in cyber land that can give me an idea if this is a recoverable problem?

Thanks, Don
