Re:I had a problem when I first started playing WoW a few months ago, where anytime I gryphed into or out of Ironforge, I would either get disconnected and dropped back to the character select screen, or the game would close completely and drop me out to the Desktop.
A brief bit of intarwebbing revealed that this was related to the Realtek LAN drivers (I'm using the Realtek Gigabit Ethernet built in on my MSI K8T Neo2-FIR), and updating to the latest driver from Realtek resolved the issue.
I still get a ton of lag when I first enter the AH/Bank area of IF, or if I hearth back into IF, but I think this has more to do with the extraordinary amounts of RAM being eaten up whilst in IF. I have heard many people say that having >1GB RAM makes IF a whole ton smoother.
That said, lagging in IF has been getting noticeably worse in recent weeks than it had been.

go to a friends system or a net cafe that has WoW. Log in with your account and see if you are still having problems. If you are then it is Bliz problem, if not then it is a problem with your config. I am thinking it is a problem with your net connection or your firewall/router.
It is spreading…. it is happening to one of my friends now on the same server. All his other characters on other servers are fine. But it did this with 2 differant cable modems and 2 differant routers, i have also done 3 formats and reinstalls in that time, i still have identical problems

Have you made any observations on latency when you get disconnects, on the off chance that by coincedence it has improved when you log in with the new characters? I'm only half serious…
It has started to happen on all of my characters on smolderthorn. My ping is usually around 75. It does not happen on any other server:(

Re:btw, just got a response from blizzard:
This type of issue can be caused by high-latency(Travelling on your screen, but not in the world, seeing others as "Unknown entities", etc.). Please note, that we are working very hard to adress realm latency, and apologize for any inconvenience that is caused as a result of it. If you continue to experience this issue, please send in an in-game help request, and we will be able to assist you further.

Its something on your end not blizzards, otherwise everybody would be having this same problem, unless this has to do with the new maitenence there doing on the servers today and that they were doing yesturday.
happened after i resubscribed was fine before i unsubscribed, again, all servers seem to be fine, save smolderthorn and yes, i am using an nforce3 ultra networking controller.

Re:When I had an issue with the Nvidia ethernet controller, I only got disconnects on turning in quests. Well, I still get occasional disconnects that are not due to my DSL modem losing sync, but they are very rare, maybe once in 4 hours kind of thing.
Re:Are you using the nForce Network Controller (onboard Lan) ? Ever since the patch before the most recent one a lot of people have been having this type of problem with using the Networking controller and WoW. If you do you might be able to fix it by actually chaning network cards or if you don't want to do it that way you should be able to go into the properties for the Nvidia Networking Controller in the device manager there's an option to turn disable the Checksum if you do that it might work.

Try removing your router from your LAN (plug in directly) and see if that helps…:D
If that was the case, why does it only occur on that one server, smolderthorn, and not any other server? BTW, it now has started happening on new characters on that server, all the other servers are fine.
The problem may be intermittent, leading you to believe that is the case. You're not even going to try it…..?
It did it on both my routers, my new and my old, both had the latest firmware…….
I had the same problem last night. It's not caused directly by interface addons, but having them makes it worse.
What I did that fixed it, was just repeatedly log in and run out of the city until eventually I made it without being disconnected. *Important* do not attempt to do anything that requires a response from the server before doing so, such as talking, chatting, using a vendor, inspecting people, emoting etc – this will force you to be disconnected.
Once out of the city succesfully, log out and log in again and you should be up and running.
Re:The problem seems pretty likely to be the game, not your PC. Talk to support again and simplify your email – I really REALLY hope their initial response was a message intended for another support request, otherwise they are truly retarded!

Re:They made a typo apparently in that email they sent you, it should be wowcharhelp@blizzard.com.. it's char not chat in the email address.
Re:Alright, i took this to the forums:
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/threa…tech-support&t=371854&tmp=1#post371854 (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-tech-support&t=371854&tmp=1#post371854)
they responded by giving me an email address that does not work.
Re:I would agree on the too much info point.
Do they have a number to call for tech support? or contact a GM in-game with the character you can play. Either requires som relatively long wait times, but it's better than an auto-response about an issue you don't have.
Re:Originally posted by: guy
I think you sent too much information to tech support, this confused them so they gave you a non-helpful response. A simple, "I get disconnected immediately after logging on with character X on server X, but not character Y on server X" would probably get a better response.
Try the following:
Delete or rename you WTF, WDB and interface folders.
Run a surface scan of the HD which WoW is installed on. (a bad sector caused the same problem for me). Will need to reinstall wow if you find a bad sector.
Reinstall WoW.
Run memtest on your system. (probably not this since you aren't having problems with other games)
Tried that, did a format even, still does it
