Q: This is what I have: Sonata

Antec Case
Gigabyte SINXP1394
Intel GA-P4 Hyper X PC2700 Seagate Barracuda 3.06
Kingston 512 x2
120GB Sata
Sony CDRW
Sony 48x dual format DVD / +-R u0026 RW
Samaung FDD
Audigy 2 Platinum
ATI AIW9700 Pro
WinXP PRO

I installing the CPU, HSF, and RAM. Hooked of power, LEDs, and front USB ports. Then AIW9700 installed. Tried to see a boat and get a black screen. Fans are all running, ram led to . Read AIW evidence that it was important to SIS-based AGP drivers to download before installing. This course is based on relpacing card in an existing system is not the first time to build. Help . I have no idea where to go.

Thanks in advance!

Re:You know I am having the same problem, but I traced it down to the ( CORSAIR ) twin matched pair DDR3200 1Gig or 512 ea. I installed my old DDR 2700 ( 1 stick of 256) and that got me into the BIOS. All this after going through the entire system, mind you it is all brand new so memory was the last thing I could have thought of as in being bad. I have also tried installing the corsair in sinlge sticks and w/both, I even went and set the DRAM timing to slow everything way down and nothing. Oh and I have the exact M/B you have so you may want to check you memory..

It is the memory. I did the same and got it to boot. There is a really good forum @asusboards with a lot of information on the memory topic. There is also a bios that was done by one of the members that relaxes the memory timings on boot to allow the use of the higher performance memory. Lots of people using the memory you have.

Re:guy
Sometimes high performance memory isn't bad but causes problems because the default memory voltage setting in the bios is too low for it.

Re:The sis agp driver is actually to help the agp slot work properly. Though you should be able to get into windows without it.

It may be best to disconnect or remove everything but the essentials. Try booting with only ram, cpu and video. You may even consider finding an old pci video card, just to eliminate a possible issue with the aiw. That also includes unplugging the front usb ports, as they have been known to cause trouble occasionally.

Re:I am using the antec 380W Truepower that came with the Sonata. No beeps!

Re:Do you get any error codes (beeps) on startup? Also, what sort of power supply is in this system?

Re:How do I reset the bios. Sorry, extreme newb here.
