Dual LAN crossover cable is needed? [cable modem router] [epox 8rda3]

Q: This may seem a silly question, but I ordered a Epox 8rda3 + motherboard and comes with two LAN ports . I use one of the ports for connecting my cable modem router, while I like the other port to the internet with my old computer parts. The old computer has a standard 10/100 PCI NIC. Would I need a crossover cable to my Epox 8rda3 + LAN controller card to my old computer? Or can I just a normal ethernet cable? Connecting the old computer directly to the router is not an option. Cable Modem / Router Set-Up Help Needed! [cable modem router] [cable internet access]

Q: I try a friend of mine up and running on its new Comcast Cable Internet. He has a Motorola Surfboard cable modem (SB5100) and a Netgear router (RP614NA) Working directly with the incoming cable termination site in his basement, I can not a browser to connect. I tried hooking the PC (W2K SP3) directly to the modem and through the router without success. Ive run the installation wizard with the modem and the Netgear setup software. I get a port number, which tells me that the PC is recognized b
