The simplest LAN (2 NICs using crossover cable) with a very strange problem. [cross over cable] [crossover cable]

Q: The network is 2 PCs with two 10/100 NICs and a crossover cable. Everything works, I can share files and internet connection as usual. My problem is that the network often a time-out, I mean that the connection stops working and no data transfer between two PCs. It seems that this is only a few seconds, but it is enough to drop out of games.

So far I have tried following.

1. Several NICs.
2. Several PCI slots.
3. Different network speeds (100 and 10 / 2 and ful

Q: OK, Im a linux running Win2K Pro as my primary newbie.

I system (sometimes boot in win98) and I just built my second box of redhat7.

Ive got 2 NICs and a crossover cable. Physically they are functional. I ping eaches respective static IPs 0.

I want to be able to easily share files.

Also if its possible, ICS internat would be great. My 2000 box has the modem, and the ISA, so I can not switch to another box.

ANy help would be apreciated.

Q: I have two computers with NIC cards installed in each, and a crossover cable. I put both on the same workgroup and printer sharing turned on . but I can not seem to be the other computer on the network thing . I miss somethign here? let me know . Thanks guys
