Q: Does Win2000 have a msconfig / startup alternatives such as Win98 and XP? My work laptop is Win2000 and I would like to see what is running in the backround that I can conclude. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Q: How do you Win ME (and WinXP) on the menu that allows you to boot into safe mode? I just press F8 was the trick, but it does not seem to work .
Im trying to help (by phone), a friend who has WinME on her laptop. I told her to press and hold F8 during boot, but it went right into Windows. I only have WinXP on my system, and F8 do not get me the menu either, so I do not know if MS changed how to do this, or if Im wrong remember from my Win98 days.
