DSL router and the problems galore [linksys router] [router problems]

Q: I just tried to set up a small home network consisting of 2 computers (both running XP Pro). I have a DSL modem and a Linksys router. The problem is that I have a static IP to be assigned to one of the computers to enable them to connect to the network. Ive tried to make both the IP and the one or the other always gets limited or no connectivity. Once I have an IP to connect to either one of them. Heres the problem. One has the static IP can not connect to the Inernet. Not that big of deal, b

Q: I have an old Linksys BEFW11S4. Every time I run Azureus kills my internet connection completely. Azureus downloads everything well, but I can not see which sites. They just time out. Even the router setup page either a timeout or load very slowly. Eventually I bought another router when I got home and fixed the problem, but Im off in college now and I got stuck with the old Linksys.
